Cesky Krumlov With Cisco's Family

We recently had Cisco's Mom (Kathy), Grandma (Charlotte), Sister (Sam) and family friend (Beverly) visit us in Prague. Our first trip together was to a town called Cesky Krumlov. Here's Hannah, Kathy and Sam on our first of many train trips we would have throughout their visit.

The Czech trains go all over the country and stop often along the way at the small train stations. Here's one example.
And here's another one where this cute tiny boy was helping the station director show the train conductor the red for stop and green for go with his little flag.
So...Here's Cesky Krumlov. The whole town is a UNESCO Heritage site and it is kept in lovely condition, looking just as it may have in the Middle Ages.

We arrived on the first sunny day of the spring and it was INCREDIBLE! It was nearly 70 degrees and all the previous days were closer to 50. We sat outside and had lunch by the river that runs through town. I was thrilled to actually get a little color on my pasty skin! It's been a LONG winter. It's a different world from Cyprus :)

Here are some views from our lovely lunch spot. Check out the cool foot bench.
After lunch we checked into our hotel...which turned out to be awesome. Castle View Apartments - if you ever make it to Cesky Krumlov, this was a fantastic (and very reasonable) place to stay. Here's the view from our window.
And another...Looks like a picture doesn't it?
Then we headed out to wander the city for a while. We walked along the river.
And toward the castle.
The city views were beautiful from the castle.

We came across one of the coolest looking cats we've ever seen. It was guarding the castle. Enlarge this one and check out those orange eyes. Too beautiful.
And the gardens were lovely, trees and flowers just starting to bloom.
It must be incredible when Spring colors are out.

There's always time to pose for cheesy pictures :) Looking good...don't you think? Definitely enlarge this one...the face is classic.
Here's one inside the castle walls.
And just outside, the castle moat is home to 3 big brown bears. Aparently they have kept bears here for hundreds of years.
Upon further exploration, we found a beautiful park along the river.
And more great architecture dating back hundreds of years.

We made our way back to the hotel and had dinner at a cool restaurant right across the street. This place had a big open fire where they cooked all the meat and veggies. Not only was it a great atmosphere, but the food was delish!

In the evening we walked through the town. It was quiet, but beautifully lit.
The next day we explored the city some more.
We made it to the local Eggenberg brewery...but were just a little too late for a tour.
No problem though...We went into the Eggenberg restaurant and tried some of the brews on our own. Delicious, by the way!
Cesky Krumlov is a beautiful town, and only about 2 hours from us in Prague. We will definitely be visiting again. Hopefully for a canoeing or rafting trip next time!
